I am horrible at knowing which direction I'm facing. When someone tells me to go North, South, East or West, I am entirely clueless as to which is which. My brain doesn't work that way and it doesn't want to. I can tell you that there's a McDonald's on the corner, but not which corner it is. When ordering a car, if they ask me whether they should wait at the SW corner or the NW corner, I have no idea what to tell them. I go outside and hope for the best.
Because of this dilemma, and because of my love of Victorian-era jewelry, I have seriously considered getting myself a fabulous compass necklace that I can wear and that will help me out when I have no idea which way I should face when I get out of the train. My problem? Nobody makes a fabulous compass necklace. And it's a bit sexist that there are some gorgeous stopwatch-looking compasses out there. I suppose I could just wear one of those around my neck, but I want something small. So far, all I've found is this:

And you know, it looks rather sporty. I don't want my compass necklace to be sporty. This is closer to what I'm looking for:

But still, it's a little bit too Celtic for me. It's just not quite right. I want something delicate, with filigree if possible. So I'm going to be Goldicompass for a while. I'll let you know if I find what I'm looking for, and you can let me know if you see something that looks like it. Keep in mind that I want it to look something like this:
Except without Mary and the Baby Jesus. Imagine them substituted by a cool, old-fashioned compass. And tiny.
This concludes our obsessing for today. Toodles!
